The 109th annual genral meeting of our organisation was held at the Jarvis Hotel, Leicester. The Chairman, Lilian Haywood, welcomed one guest and 45 members, of whom 14 were Leicestershire members. Two Honorary Members were present. Also in attendance was the General Secretary
The nominees for the Officers' posts were re-elected unopposed. Full details can be found on the Officers Page.
Midland AS Union Resolution:
The Resolution was carried.
(Total votes cast - 171: For - 102, Against - 69, Abstentions - 5)
NASO Constitution and Standing Orders:
The Resolution was defeated.
(Total votes cast - 171: Two-thirds majority required - 110: For - 101:
Against - 64: Abstentions - 6)

A Cook's Tour of Leicester
27th - 30th March 2007
The itinerary was
Tuesday 27th - 8.00pm
Robert Ingle gave an introductory costume lecture on Thomas Cook in
the Park Suite in the hotel.
Wednesday 28th - 10.00am
Guided tour of Leicetser Cathederal, followed by a guided tour of
the Guildhall, led by Blue Badge Guide, Alan Joyce.
2.25pm - Gather at the Town Hall, to be met by The Lord Mayor, followed by a guided tour, led by Derek Seaton.
8.00pm - Mike Brewer gave a poetry reading in the Park Suite at the hotel.
Thursday 29th
The morning and afternoon were free for individual sightseeing or shopping
(a map was provided).
12 noon - A guided tour of the Gas Museum on the outskirts of Leicester. Transport was provided from the hotel.
Friday 30th
After collecting Leicestershire members at two earlier pick-up points,
a coach picked up at the hotel at 9.30am. We were led on a full day excursion
by Diane Courtney, a Blue Badge Guide.
First, a visit to Market Harborough. After a stop for lunch at The Sun Inn, Cottesmore, we then visited Oakham Castle.
Return to the hotel was at approximately 5.00pm.
